| | A Glossary of Terms or Understanding the Buzz Words of PSA. |
| | Newer members of PSA often ask the meaning of terms which members of long standing take for granted. This short guide is an introduction to expressions used frequently in conversation and publications without explanation. We hope it will be useful as you become familiar with the many activities and service offered by the Society! |

| | PSA's office is in Oklahoma City. Responsible for sending out membership information, ensuring that new members received their welcome package, preparing and distributing the PSA Journal, and other activities required to keep PSA running smoothly. |

| | Region Directors |
| | Region Directors are the primary contact for PSA members, with an emphasis on new and recently joined members of the Society. This person will answer questions on services and activities, introduce members to others with similar photographic interests and help newer members find out about the wide range of activities available through the Society. Region Directors report to the Vice President, Membership. |

| | The Divisions. |
| | The nine special interest sections (divisions) of the Society, each oriented to distinct photographic programs and activities. Members may affiliate with one or more divisions when they join, or later. Divisions contact their new members to offer activities and help in their specialties. Most divisions run competitions and approve exhibitions which showcase their special interest. The divisions are: |

| | CSD - Color slide Division. No limits on subject matter or treatment. Includes comtempory (abstract), computer-enhanced, and other manipulative imaging. |

| | ND - Nature Division. Devoted to nature photography: photography without the hand-of-man in evidence. |

| | PJD - Photojournalism Division. Emphasis on spot news and news feature photography. |

| | PPD - Pictorial Print Division. Black and white or color. Includes any subject. Source for excellent advice on darkroom techniques. Portfolios circulating among small groups help you to meet other print makers. |

| | SD - Stereo Division. Devoted to 3-D. Circuits, programs, instructional brochures, and a chance to develop friendships with 3-D enthusiasts throughout the world. |

| | TD - Techniques Division. Anything goes. Advice on how to get different photographic effects. Moving into the computer-enhanced and computer generated image. |

| | VMPD - Video and Motion Picture Division. Advice on equipment and shooting techniques for better videos. |

| | PTD - Photo Travel Division. Programs stress combining excellence in photography with a travel story. |

| | EID - Electronic Imaging Division. This is the newest division in PSA and is concerned with the electronic capture, storage, modification, restoration, reproduction and transmission of images. |

| | Circuits and Portfolios |

| CIRCUITS -Slide sets which circulate among a small group of members, with each member contributing slides and commenting on the work of others in the set. A way to learn and get ideas about new techniques. |
| | PORTFOLIOS - Similar to circuits, but run by the Pictorial Print Division. Portfolios exist for different size prints, and different abilities of the members. One activity involves each member making a print from a negative supplied by a master photographer. |

| | Getting Together |
| | INTERNATIONAL COMFERENCE - An annual meeting held in different parts of the U.S. each year. Includes three days of programs representing each division, a full-day seminar by a noted photographer, field trips, and entertainment evening, division luncheons and the Honors Banquet. Division Centers provide information on wide ranging topies. an excellent chance to meet people with similar interests and to renew old friendships. Something to think about in planning vacations. |
| | REGIONALS, OR REGIONAL CONVENTIONS. Mini-conferences, sponsored by PSA Chapters, with three days of programs, plus field trips. A chance for people to see top-notch programs even if they are unable to attend the PSA Conference. |
| | CHAPTERS - Oranizations of PSA members in defined geographical areas. Members can join several Chapters, as long as they belong to their "home Chapters." Meetings are generally three or four times a year, with programs and workshops. An excellent way to meet people from nearby areas or camera clubs. |

| | EXHIBITIONS |
| | Photographic exhibitions open to any photographer, world wide. Sponsored by national, regional and local photographic organization in some 20 countries and may include one or several sections. Recognized by PSA when run according to Uniform Practices and standards to insure quality. |
