Cascade Board Meets On Aug. 21 - Plan for Future |
| The PSA Cascade Chapter No. 23 board met at chairman Jim Bakers house to plan for September program and for future programs. |
| The September program is pretty well covered on the first part of this page so will go into other events. |
| Youth Photography: Last year within a short time frame 10 schools were contacted and 6 of them sent in 18 prints. Two of the prints won at the national Youth contest, but information will not be released until after the PSA convention. The Chapter board felt it was very successful especially considering the time that we had. All agreed that it should definitely worth repeating and making into an annual event. It just needs a few members to devote some time to contacting the photo instructors in the High school that still have photo classes and present the program. |
| Chairman Jim is looking for someone to run the program and wants to get it started by October 1st. Details for next year will not be available until then. There are 5 or 6 categories for the student to enter in. It is hoped and planned to extend this program beyond the Portland Metro area. There is no cost to schools and is for high school age. Anyone interested in being a part of the Youth Photography activity get in touch with Jim Baker, APSA, 12232 SE 36th Ave, Milwaukie, OR 97222. e-mail jjbaker@aol.com |
|
| Digital Photography: Jim told how the program was going. George Self has most of the equipment in place now with the exception of a laptop. He is working hard to make sure we get the right machine to run with the current equipment. The group OK'd to remain a sponsor along with 4 C's who have put up the money for the laptop. The digital project will be used in the September show. |
|
| Future Events: Planned for January 18th a program by Gary Fields. The place and other details to be announced in the next newsletter in late December or early January. |
| A part day of short programs and afternoon of table tops called "Foto Fun Fest" will be held in The Dalles April 19th. A similar event was held several years ago and the group felt it was worth repeating and enlarging on. There are planned several digital programs, one for those who want to know the what, why and how and one for those who know the what, why and how. Workshops in glassware, black light and other techniques will be featured. |
|
| Chapter Show Case: Slides have been judged and returned and now just waiting to see how we did at the PSA convention. Gary Fields, chairman of showcase for the chapter will be asking for slides again next year in April. |
